Today, we remember and celebrate the extraordinary life of Dr. Peggy Wilson, a true trailblazer whose leadership and dedication helped shape Cedar Hill into the vibrant community we cherish today.
Dr. Wilson’s legacy includes her pivotal role as an organizer and leader of Cedar Hill’s economic development program beginning in 1991. She made history as the first woman to serve on the Cedar Hill City Council from 1994 to 1996 and was recognized with the first-ever Golden Cedar Award for Lifetime Achievement by the Cedar Hill Chamber of Commerce in 2001.
Her contributions extended beyond Cedar Hill, reflecting her deep commitment to public service. A proud Republican since 1967, she represented Texas as a Platform Committee Member at the 1972 Republican National Convention and was named Outstanding Republican Woman of Texas in 1973.
In 2012, the City of Cedar Hill honored Dr. Wilson with the Distinctive Character Lifetime Achievement Award, a testament to her enduring impact on our city and its people.
Dr. Wilson’s legacy of leadership, service, and resilience will continue to inspire generations to come. We are deeply grateful for her remarkable contributions.
